It’s time for us to step up as business leaders!
COVID-19 has already had a significant effect on all of our daily lives, and the impact on the labor market in the public relations and marketing services industry could be potentially devastating.
Consequently, it is incumbent on us as agency business leaders that we do our part to preserve jobs and stimulate the employment market within our profession to the best of our ability.
I hope you’ll join me in taking the COVID CEO Pledge. When you take the pledge you will be committing to a salary reduction of 50% through the end of the second quarter of 2020. The savings from your salary should be reinvested in the preservation of jobs, or if you’re fortunate enough to be hiring in this environment, the addition of new jobs to your firm over the next three months.
Many of us will be asking our people to do more with less until we understand the long-term business impact caused by any disruptions related to COVID-19. Taking the pledge will send the right message to our employees, our industry and the broader global business community: We leaders are willing to take a short-term salary cut in order to preserve or stimulate job growth in our industry during this delicate period in which our people face so much uncertainty and potentially lasting financial consequences.
